Social entrepreneurship

Good Practices

“Pokrov” is the first long-term rehabilitation program for drugs, alcohol and hazard withdrawal in Macedonia. Everyone in Strumica knows about Sokrat Mancev – one of the most successful social entrepreneurs, founder of “Pokrov”. In “Pokrov”, the program beneficiaries have work engagements within the social enterprise. As part of the social integration, they are dealing with organic farming and they place their products on the market. The revenues are used for the financing of the enterprise and for covering the fees of the beneficiaries. “Pokrov” is a self-sustaining model of a social enterprise, which enjoys the support of the local community.

“Lice v lice” (“Face to Face”) is the only street magazine in Macedonia. By practicing and promoting the model of a social enterprise, it provides a working engagement for about 40 marginalized persons (street youth, people with disabilities, homeless people, etc.). The magazine is sold at a price of MKD 100, with half of the selling price being kept by the seller, while the other half is used for the realization and development of the educational program undergone by these persons, as well as for the costs for printing and preparing a new issue of “Lice v Lice”.
